Sonder is an apartment-hotel company headquartered in San Francisco. Their properties are short term rentals and in the the UK the vast majority of properties have been located in London but they are branching out. One of their first branches was to purchase the Royal Garden Apartments on Queen Street and turn what was a really worn down building into really modern holiday apartments which are really quite great.
So their build process was done in stages and I originally spent two days photographing multiple apartments late last November then they asked me to go back again and photograph a number of other apartments early January. So I photographed a really good amount of apartments and they are all really quite different but really cool looking. I believe at the time of my second visit, all the building works had been completed just a day or two before so unlike the first visit when the reception was still being worked on as well as the more communal areas and the flags hadn’t been installed on the outside, the second visit I was also able to capture these communal areas.
This was a lot of fun to shoot, great company to work with.
