Rock House
Rock House Edinburgh. Something really special today. Edinburgh is full of really beautiful historic buildings. We have some buildings whose foundations are from the 12th century and many houses which are nearly 200 hundred years old and have been relatively untouched. One of the most famous houses in Edinburgh is called the “Rock House” and just yesterday I was asked to photograph it.
The Rock House was (to quote the plaque on the wall outside) “the studio of pioneer photographers Robert Adamson and David Octavius Hill 1843-1847 and the Rock House, which is located up the first flight of steps up Calton Hill is now used as a holiday home. You have to access the building through a locked gate which also has a plaque on the wall and there are three accommodations within the site; the Rock House, The Terrace Apartment, and the Photographers Studio. I photographed the first two and can’t wait to go back and photograph the third when it’s available.
Doing a search on Zoopla, the Rock House was sold in mid-2017 for over £1.5 million and has been let as a holiday home. BNB Buddy who I work for recently acquired this property onto their books and spent a couple of hours Friday photographing both. I’ll write things about each property below.
As mentioned this was photographed in Edinburgh but I have now moved to London. if you’re looking for a London property photographer, whether it be for photos, videos, floor plans, drone shots, VR tours, or a combination of some or all, please contact me here.
