Onich Hotel Fort William
Onich Hotel Fort William. Back in May 2021 I travelled to the Scottish Highlands for the first time. I was contacted by the new owners of the Onich Hotel about spending two days in the Highlands photographing two hotels, the first being the Onich Hotel and the second the Morar Hotel, the latter of which I have yet to blog about but will do so in due course.
The trip itself. The Onich Hotel took me around 3 hours to reach and is about one hour short of Fort William as you approach from the Edinburgh direction. I left nice and early, had a toilet break along the way and stopped on the main road that goes past Glencoe to take some photos (very pretty despite mixed weather) but otherwise it was really easy to reach. The weather in the morning was poor but thankfully (!) the weather cleared by lunchtime and we had pretty great weather in the afternoon for photos.
The job itself. This included taking photos of all of the different room types, the communal areas, lots of food, external photos, the external cabins which are fabulous and I offered to take some drone photos as well which again are really fabulous. I took hundreds of photos, ate lots of food, had lots of laughs and by the end of the day was pretty tired but they kindly put me in a room for the night.
In due course I’ll write about the Morar Hotel which was a trip in itself but overall was impressed. The location itself is absolutely beautiful, the rooms very comfortable and the new owners are in the process of renovating the hotel which I’m sure will make it even more impressive. The Onich Hotel Fort William is definitely worth a stay.
